At the ADM held at Newington on Saturday 15th October, the following changes to District Officers took place whilst the others remained unchanged:
District Rep – Florence Hamp stood down, replaced by Val Cooper & Annette Jacobs (working as a team)
Book Sales – Alan Driver stood down, the position is left vacant for the time being, although Alan still holds the stock for now
Fundraiser – Margaret Philpott stood down, the position is left vacant for the time being
For details of who’s who, please have a look here.
The Treasurer, Derek Gowdy, is continuing in the role for one final year – so next year we will definitely need a replacement. Please think about whether this could be you or someone you know.
Just a reminder that we have the following happening at Newington-next-Sittingbourne this coming Saturday 15th October:
2.00pm to 4.30pm – Training Session: Raising & Lowering in Peal (there are a couple of places left on this, so if you want to attend please let me know ASAP. £5 per person. Offers of help welcome as well!)
4.30pm to 5.00pm – Annual District Meeting
5.00pm to 7.00pm – General ringing for the District Practice
Also as a reminder we are ideally looking for a new Treasurer, Book Sales Rep and District Rep – please consider whether you or someone you know would be willing & suitable for one of these roles. It would be nice to get some new people involved in the running of the District! Any of the roles are up for election, so if you or someone you know would like to get involved, please get nominations in before Saturday if you can.
Finally, at 7.30pm on Saturday we are heading to The Jenny Wren pub in Kemsley for a meal. If you would like to join us, please let me know ASAP so I can confirm numbers to them.
Look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday.
It’s that time of year again and the ADM is upon us! On Saturday 15th October we will have a full afternoon of ringing at Newington (6) comprising of training and the regular District Practice, and the ADM will be slotted in at some point along the way!
Remember, all District Officer positions are open to nominations – in particular this year we are looking for someone to take over the roles of Treasurer, Bookstall and one District Rep. If you or anyone you know would be interested, please get in touch.
The training session this time round, which will run from 2pm to 4.30pm, is ‘Raising and Lowering in Peal’, specifically aimed at those ringers who can ring up & down on their own confidently but would like to move on to doing so in peal with a band. We have 6 places available, first come first served, so please contact either myself or Helen Webb if you would like a place. We will also need helpers, so if you are available and would be willing to help out please get in touch too. Cost is £5 per person.
The District Practice part of the ADM will run from approximately 5.00pm to 7.00pm, all welcome.
Afterwards, we are hoping to enjoy a meal together at The Jenny Wren pub in Kemsley. Nothing formal, just a nice friendly get-together so we can socialise outside of the ringing chamber. If you would like to join us, please let me know as soon as possible, but no later than Saturday 8th October, so I can confirm numbers to the pub. Their menu is available online here (we don’t need to pre-order).
Hot on the heels of the recent District Outing to Oxford, I am pleased to announce that next year we will be heading into London on Saturday 20th May.
Slightly different to the usual outing, the morning (10am to 11.30am) will include a tour of Whitechapel Bell Foundry. It’s an opportunity to see what goes on in a working foundry, as well as see the museum displays visit the shop. Tickets are £15 per person but numbers limited – there are only 24 available, so if you would like to join the tour please let me know ASAP to secure your ticket.
Even if you don’t get a ticket for the foundry tour, there will also be ringing at various towers from lunchtime – more details to follow in due course.
